| HOUSE RESOLUTION

| WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the |
3 |
| State of Illinois are pleased to congratulate Ken Wisniewski on |
4 |
| the occasion of his retirement after 26 years at Kirk School |
5 |
| and 34 years in education; and |
6 |
| WHEREAS, After serving as assistant principal for one year, |
7 |
| Mr. Wisniewski completed his 25th year as principal on June 30, |
8 |
| 2005; and |
9 |
| WHEREAS, He began his tenure at Kirk School in 1979 after |
10 |
| eight years as a special education teacher at Wheeling High |
11 |
| School, where he met his wife, Nancy; and |
12 |
| WHEREAS, Kirk School is part of the Northwest Suburban |
13 |
| Special Education Organization and serves students with |
14 |
| moderate to profound mental impairments; many students also |
15 |
| have significant physical impairments; students are referred |
16 |
| from eight school districts; and |
17 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Wisniewski's career has been driven by the |
18 |
| desire to provide an education to even the most fragile of |
19 |
| students; he helped to incorporate three significant policies |
20 |
| into Kirk's functional curriculum over his 25-year tenure, |
21 |
| including integrated therapy, a community-based training |
22 |
| program, and transitional services long before they were |
23 |
| federally mandated; and |
24 |
| WHEREAS, He has worked to increase the technology |
25 |
| capabilities of the school, and today there are approximately |
26 |
| 75 computers in the building and a wide range of equipment, |
27 |
| including scooters and communication devices; and |
28 |
| WHEREAS, In addition to improving the curriculum, for the |
29 |
| last several years, Mr. Wisniewski has worked with the parents |
