| HOUSE RESOLUTION

| WHEREAS, Kathleen Lange was chosen as the 2005 National |
3 |
| Education Association-ESP of the Year; she was also chosen as |
4 |
| the Illinois Education Association-ESP of the Year in 2004; and
|
5 |
| WHEREAS, IEA-ESP membership exceeds 23,000; its members |
6 |
| are actively involved in the association at the local, state, |
7 |
| and national levels, in their community organizations, and in |
8 |
| school restructuring efforts as partners with their teachers |
9 |
| and administrative colleagues; the IEA-ESP award is meant to |
10 |
| further emphasize the contributions of Educational Support |
11 |
| Professionals to their association, schools, and community; |
12 |
| and
|
13 |
| WHEREAS, The National Education Association-ESP has over |
14 |
| 375,000 members and, each year, one of the 50 state association |
15 |
| awardees is chosen as the NEA-ESP of the Year; and
|
16 |
| WHEREAS, As the recipient of the NEA-ESP of the Year award, |
17 |
| Ms. Lange receives $10,000; she is donating the entire award to |
18 |
| the RAINBOWS Program in District 59; RAINBOWS is an |
19 |
| international, not-for-profit organization that fosters |
20 |
| emotional healing among children grieving a loss from a |
21 |
| life-altering crisis, such as divorce, death, or severe |
22 |
| illness; and
|
23 |
| WHEREAS, Since 1995, she has worked as a Health Care |
24 |
| Assistant in a K-5 elementary school; after developing an |
25 |
| electronic log for student visits that is now used |
26 |
| district-wide at all 14 schools, she accepted a temporary |
27 |
| assignment in the Technology Department in November 2004, where |
28 |
| she assists members in achieving data quality objectives within |
29 |
| the district's web-based database; and
|
