| HOUSE RESOLUTION

| WHEREAS, Chief Jeff Waite has retired as Chief of the |
3 |
| Sullivan Fire Protection District; and
|
4 |
| WHEREAS, In his position, Chief Waite has worked closely |
5 |
| with government officials to secure around $700,000 worth of |
6 |
| grants to upgrade and modernize the Sullivan Fire Protection |
7 |
| District; under his leadership the department was approved as a |
8 |
| training facility in 1991; in 1992, the department received a |
9 |
| TIF grant to computerize the department; the same year, he was |
10 |
| appointed vice-president of the Central Illinois Fire Chief's |
11 |
| Association; in 1995, he was elected to serve as an area |
12 |
| representative for the Illinois Fire Chief's Association, and |
13 |
| he was elected President of the Central Illinois Fire Chief's |
14 |
| Association in 1998, a position he held through 2004; and
|
15 |
| WHEREAS, He also served as Director for the Illinois Fire |
16 |
| Chief's Association for one year, was appointed to the Illinois |
17 |
| State Fire Chief's Funeral Committee, and served on a committee |
18 |
| for the first Illinois Volunteer Fire Service Summit; he was |
19 |
| appointed to the Illinois Terrorism Task Force to study |
20 |
| Statewide Communications and was re-elected to serve as the |
21 |
| Illinois Fire Chief's Association Director; he also served on |
22 |
| the Illinois Terrorism IEMA Region 17 Task Force (Mass Casualty & |
23 |
| Haz Mat Decontamination), on the Moultrie County Kellogg Farm |
24 |
| Safety Project as a committee member, on the Lake Shelbyville |
25 |
| Safety Committee, and as a MABAS Division 26 Officer (State |
26 |
| Mutual Aid); and
|
27 |
| WHEREAS, Throughout his entire career, he has received |
28 |
| several commendations including the Life Saving Award for a |
29 |
| Texas State Trooper from the Texas House of Representatives, |
30 |
| the Texas Department of Public Safety Region Commander's Award |
31 |
| in 1999, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Life Saving Award, the |
32 |
| George A. Sentel Lodge 764 Community Builder's Award, and he |
