| WHEREAS, Cretora H. Barnett is retiring from her position |
3 |
| as the Cook County Administrator for Administrative Case Review |
4 |
| with the Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) |
5 |
| after 29 years of service with the department and over 30 years |
6 |
| in the child welfare profession; she worked in the private |
7 |
| sector for several years before beginning her tenure at DCFS; |
8 |
| and
|
9 |
| WHEREAS, She began her career at DCFS on October 16, 1976, |
10 |
| as a Social Service Career Trainee; she served in various |
11 |
| capacities through the years, including child protection |
12 |
| worker and supervisor, child welfare supervisor, Cook County |
13 |
| Administrator of Foster Care Recruitment, Training, and |
14 |
| Support, and Clinical Coordinator; she also served as the |
15 |
| Associate Deputy Director of Administrative Case Review at |
16 |
| DCFS; and
|
17 |
| WHEREAS, Mrs. Barnett is a certified National Association |
18 |
| of Foster Care Reviewers trainer, a Certified Practicing |
19 |
| Trainer with DCFS, a Certified Trainer for the Illinois Council |
20 |
| on Training for Disabilities, and a long-time member of the |
21 |
| DCFS African American Advisory Council, where she has been the |
22 |
| annual conference co-chairperson for the last four years; she |
23 |
| also holds memberships with the DuSable Museum of African |
24 |
| American History, PUSH, the Illinois Association of Minorities |
25 |
| in Government, and she serves as Director and Membership |
26 |
| Chairperson for the Chicago Chapter of the National Association |
27 |
| of Black Social Workers; and
|
28 |
| WHEREAS, She received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Loyola |
29 |
| University and a Master of Science in Human Service |
30 |
| Administration from Spertus University; her official |
31 |
| retirement from DCFS was on June 30, 2005; therefore, be it
