| HOUSE RESOLUTION

| WHEREAS, Staley Credit Union of Decatur will celebrate 75 |
3 |
| years of service to its members on July 7-9, 2005; and
|
4 |
| WHEREAS, Several activities will commemorate the |
5 |
| anniversary, including a breakfast, health checks, and a silent |
6 |
| auction benefiting Children's Miracle Network; and
|
7 |
| WHEREAS, A large anniversary celebration will take place |
8 |
| July 9 and will feature inflatable rides, the Decatur Park |
9 |
| Singers, singer Missy Vail, golf professional Steve Nickerson |
10 |
| doing long drives and trick shots, and an invitation-only |
11 |
| luncheon honoring members who have belonged to the Credit Union |
12 |
| for 50 years or more; and
|
13 |
| WHEREAS, Augustus E. Staley Sr., Andrew J. Percival, and |
14 |
| several other employees of A.E. Staley Manufacturing Company |
15 |
| founded Staley Credit Union in 1930; the Credit Union was |
16 |
| chartered by the State of Illinois on July 7, 1930, for the |
17 |
| purpose of providing the employees of A.E. Staley Manufacturing |
18 |
| Company, its subsidiaries, and their families a cooperative |
19 |
| environment in which members could save money and receive |
20 |
| low-cost loans; it began with assets of $125 representing 25 |
21 |
| member deposits of $5 each; and
|
22 |
| WHEREAS, In 1987, the Credit Union's bylaws were changed |
23 |
| and it became a community charter credit union to allow people |
24 |
| who lived and worked in Macon, Moultrie, Piatt, DeWitt, or |
25 |
| Shelby counties and their families to become members; and
|
26 |
| WHEREAS, As the Credit Union movement grew, Staley Credit |
27 |
| Union supported the future growth of credit unions nationwide |
28 |
| by allowing directors to serve as officers on the board of the |
29 |
| Central Illinois Chapter of Credit Unions and on the executive |
30 |
| board of directors of Credit Union National Association; and
|
