| WHEREAS, The congregation of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in |
3 |
| Ferrin celebrated the church's 100th anniversary on June 12, |
4 |
| 2005; and
|
5 |
| WHEREAS, The church was founded 100 years ago, when 18 of |
6 |
| the northern members of Trinity Lutheran Church in Hoffman |
7 |
| decided to form a church that would be closer and not require |
8 |
| as much travel to attend; throughout the last 100 years, the |
9 |
| church has grown to 300 members; and
|
10 |
| WHEREAS, The original church was dedicated on September 17, |
11 |
| 1905; in November of 1906, the church was struck by lightening; |
12 |
| the current facility was built in 1924 and was most recently |
13 |
| renovated in 2003; the pastor of the church is Reverend Ryan |
14 |
| Willis; and
|
15 |
| WHEREAS, A special worship service, noon meal, and |
16 |
| afternoon program were held in honor of the anniversary; during |
17 |
| the afternoon program, the Reverend Kenneth R. Klaus was the |
18 |
| main speaker; he serves as the featured speaker on Lutheran |
19 |
| House ministries' flagship gospel radio program "The Lutheran |
20 |
| Hour", which airs on more than 800 stations and is the world's |
21 |
| oldest continually broadcast gospel program, airing since |
22 |
| 1930; and
|
23 |
| WHEREAS, The Reverend Dr. Patrick Ferry was the guest |
24 |
| speaker at the worship service; he is the eighth president of |
25 |
| Concordia University in Wisconsin; music was provided by Soli |
26 |
| Deo Gloria (SDG) from Trinity Lutheran Church in Centralia, and |
27 |
| Donna Swetlisnoff of Litchfield was the guest organist during |
28 |
| the service; therefore, be it
