| HOUSE RESOLUTION
|

| WHEREAS, Many times, citizens answer the call of duty to |
3 |
| bring forth necessary legislation; often the work involved in |
4 |
| bringing forth legislation is time-consuming and such an |
5 |
| undertaking requires dedication to the cause that the |
6 |
| legislation addresses; and
|
7 |
| WHEREAS, As a result of the tragic death of their son, |
8 |
| Matthew, Bob and Dee Brandt put in countless hours in the |
9 |
| preparation of the legislation that became House Bill 3648 (An |
10 |
| Act concerning driving offenses, which may be referred to as |
11 |
| Matt's Law) concerning the implied consent for alcohol and drug |
12 |
| testing of drivers involved in fatal accidents or serious |
13 |
| injury accidents and concerning the denial of probation to |
14 |
| drivers convicted of reckless or aggravated driving in excess |
15 |
| of 20 miles over the speed limit; therefore, be it
|
16 |
| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
17 |
| NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
18 |
| we thank Bob and Dee Brandt for their hard work in bringing the |
19 |
| legislation that is House Bill 3648 to the attention of the |
20 |
| General Assembly, and we extend to them our most sincere |
21 |
| condolences for the death of their son, Matthew; and be it |
22 |
| further

| RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
24 |
| presented to Mr. and Mrs. Brandt as an expression of our |
25 |
| deepest sympathy as well as with our respect and esteem for |
26 |
| their dedication to this legislation.
