| HOUSE RESOLUTION
|

| WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the |
3 |
| State of Illinois are pleased to honor citizens who have made |
4 |
| significant contributions to their communities; and
|
5 |
| WHEREAS, For the past 60 plus years, Mr. Wilson Warrner of |
6 |
| Tonica has recited the Gettysburg Address entirely from memory |
7 |
| at the Memorial Day services in Tonica; his recitation of the |
8 |
| speech has always been moving and truly conveys the meaning |
9 |
| behind the words spoken by the sixteenth president of the |
10 |
| United States; he recited it at the services for the final time |
11 |
| in 2004; and
|
12 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Warrner is being honored by the Tonica |
13 |
| American Legion with a bronze plaque to be placed on the spot |
14 |
| where he has recited his rendition of the Gettysburg Address; |
15 |
| and
|
16 |
| WHEREAS, He was selected from more than 100 people who |
17 |
| attended an open audition to be featured in a video that airs |
18 |
| at the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library in Springfield; the |
19 |
| video features 26 different people and one family, including |
20 |
| two former presidents and several other well-known |
21 |
| politicians, reciting portions of the Address in spots that |
22 |
| last about 4 seconds each; therefore, be it
|

| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
24 |
| NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
25 |
| we honor Mr. Wilson Warrner for his incredible ability to |
26 |
| recite the entire Gettysburg Address from memory in a moving |
27 |
| and emotional way that conveys the true message of the speech, |
28 |
| and we congratulate him on being honored by the American |
29 |
| Legion; and be it further
