| HOUSE RESOLUTION

| WHEREAS, Education is one of the most noble professions an |
3 |
| individual can choose to pursue; it has come to our attention |
4 |
| that Ann Stockey will be retiring from the education field; and
|
5 |
| WHEREAS, She was born in Chicago on August 2, 1939; as a |
6 |
| young child, she lived in Chicago; University City, Missouri; |
7 |
| Centralia; and returned to Chicago; she attended St. Xavier |
8 |
| Academy until her last year of high school and was a member of |
9 |
| the first graduating class of Mother McAuley High School in |
10 |
| 1957; and
|
11 |
| WHEREAS, During her high school years, Ann was extremely |
12 |
| active; she was the president of Student Council, Editor of the |
13 |
| Shield (the high school newspaper), a member of the National |
14 |
| Honor Society, an honor student, a member of the Quill & |
15 |
| Scroll, a newspaper contributor, and a member of basketball and |
16 |
| volleyball intramurals, sodality, press club, dance committee, |
17 |
| and the yearbook staff; her ambition in high school was to |
18 |
| become an elementary school teacher, as were her mother and |
19 |
| grandmother; and
|
20 |
| WHEREAS, She went on to graduate from Marquette University |
21 |
| in Milwaukee in 1961; she taught second grade in Oak Lawn at |
22 |
| Gasteyer School for almost two years; she got married in August |
23 |
| of 1962 and became a mother in May of 1963; she was a full-time |
24 |
| mom until her husband passed away, leaving her a single mom |
25 |
| with four young children; and |
26 |
| WHEREAS, She went back to teaching at Hawthorne School in |
27 |
| Glen Ellyn in 1975 and returned full-time in 1976 at Christ the |
28 |
| King School in Lombard, where all of her children attended; she |
29 |
| left Christ the King School in the spring of 1986 to teach |
30 |
| sixth, seventh, and eighth grade social studies at Winfield |
31 |
| Middle School, where she has been teaching since; and
