| WHEREAS, State Farm Insurance Company's mission is to help |
3 |
| people manage the risks of everyday life, recover from the |
4 |
| unexpected, and realize their dreams; and
|
5 |
| WHEREAS, Motor vehicle crashes are the leading cause of |
6 |
| death for children between the ages of 2 and 14 years; and
|
7 |
| WHEREAS, 1,543 children were killed and more than 227,000 |
8 |
| children were injured in automobile accidents in 2002; and
|
9 |
| WHEREAS, State Farm has partnered with The Children's |
10 |
| Hospital of Philadelphia to develop the Partners for Child |
11 |
| Passenger Safety, the first academic-corporate partnership |
12 |
| devoted to the safety of children in motor vehicles; and
|
13 |
| WHEREAS, Partners for Child Passenger Safety is committed |
14 |
| to improving automotive restraint design and educating policy |
15 |
| makers and parents to increase safety for children; and
|
16 |
| WHEREAS, Partners of Child Passenger Safety has studied |
17 |
| more than 223,000 accidents involving 336,000 children in an |
18 |
| effort to improve the safety of children in automobiles; and
|
19 |
| WHEREAS, State Farm is sponsoring its fifth annual Child |
20 |
| Passenger Safety Day on Saturday, May 14, 2005, to show parents |
21 |
| how to properly install and use child restraint systems; and
|
22 |
| WHEREAS, State Farm Child Passenger Safety Day is being |
23 |
| held across the United States and in 13 separate locations |
24 |
| throughout Illinois including Bloomington, Bradley, Champaign, |
25 |
| Chicago, East St. Louis, Joliet, Macomb, Moline, Peru, and |
26 |
| Springfield; therefore, be it
