| HOUSE RESOLUTION

| WHEREAS, On April 25, 2005, Nancy Mabbott will be retiring |
3 |
| from service on the Orland School District 135 Board of |
4 |
| Education; and
|
5 |
| WHEREAS, She served for eight years on the board, including |
6 |
| two years as Vice President and three years as Secretary; she |
7 |
| has chaired the Building and Community Relations committees and |
8 |
| served on the Finance, Planning, Education, and Policy |
9 |
| committees; she was District 135's liaison to the high school |
10 |
| district, and she participated in the Subcommittee on |
11 |
| Attendance Boundaries; and
|
12 |
| WHEREAS, During her tenure with the board, District 135 has |
13 |
| seen many notable achievements; among them are the opening of |
14 |
| Meadow Ridge School, the completion of the Orland Junior High |
15 |
| School renovation, improvements to school libraries and |
16 |
| playgrounds, and maintaining quality environments in all 10 |
17 |
| schools; she has been instrumental in the development and |
18 |
| implementation of a long-range plan for student achievement, as |
19 |
| well as in the evaluation and restructuring of all district |
20 |
| curriculums to align them with State standards and continue |
21 |
| consistency of instruction in all of the district's schools; |
22 |
| and
|
23 |
| WHEREAS, Ms. Mabbott exemplifies the teamwork of the Board |
24 |
| of Education and the administration in allocating the |
25 |
| district's resources to maintain and enhance both programs and |
26 |
| facilities over the years, even in the face of dwindling |
27 |
| revenues, a dilemma that is affecting school districts |
28 |
| throughout the State; and |
29 |
| WHEREAS, She is married to Mike and is the mother of |
30 |
| Allison, Lindsay, and Ryan; therefore, be it
