| HOUSE RESOLUTION

| WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the |
3 |
| State of Illinois learned with deep sadness of the death of |
4 |
| Edward J. Moskal on Tuesday, March 22, 2005; and |
5 |
| WHEREAS, Edward J. Moskal was born in Chicago on May 21, |
6 |
| 1924, to Sophie (Grzyb) and Joseph Moskal; he attended St. John |
7 |
| Cantius School; following his formal education and three years |
8 |
| in the United States Army, he returned home to begin his |
9 |
| illustrious career with the Polish National Alliance (PNA), |
10 |
| which he joined in 1942; and |
11 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Moskal married Wanda Sadlik on November 21, |
12 |
| 1946; and |
13 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Moskal had served as President of the PNA |
14 |
| since 1988; prior to his presidency, he was elected a PNA |
15 |
| National Director in 1963 and became National Treasurer in |
16 |
| 1967, in which office he served until his election as |
17 |
| President; he was also elected as President of the Polish |
18 |
| American Congress in 1988 and served in that office until his |
19 |
| death; and |
20 |
| WHEREAS, President Lech Walesa awarded him the highest |
21 |
| civilian honor of the Republic of Poland, the Commander's Cross |
22 |
| with Star; he was also made an honorary citizen of the city of |
23 |
| Krakow, Poland; the title of Honorary Doctor was bestowed upon |
24 |
| him by the University of Poznan Medical School in 1997; and |
25 |
| WHEREAS, At a private audience with the late Pope John Paul |
26 |
| II on December 4, 1997, Mr. Moskal had the opportunity to |
27 |
| discuss Polish and Polish American matters with the Holy Father |
28 |
| and to gain his insights and advice; he was reelected President |
29 |
| of the Polish National Alliance for another four-year term in |
30 |
| September of 2003; and |

| WHEREAS, His term as President was marked by many |
2 |
| innovations and advancements at the PNA; among other things, he |
3 |
| instituted a complete computerization of the Home Office in |
4 |
| Chicago, making it a state-of-the-art operation; it was also a |
5 |
| period in which other smaller Polish American fraternal groups |
6 |
| merged with the PNA, which had become the largest ethnic |
7 |
| fraternal organization in the United States; he completed the |
8 |
| initiation of broadcasting by radio station WPNA (1490 AM) in |
9 |
| the Chicago area; determined to secure the financial |
10 |
| independence and growth of the PNA, he expanded the interests |
11 |
| to the organization to include banking institutions under the |
12 |
| name of Alliance FSB with branches in Niles and Chicago; |
13 |
| constantly interested in keeping current with modern trends, he |
14 |
| led the PNA into the new world of Internet communications with |
15 |
| the creation of a website and widespread e-mail correspondence; |
16 |
| and |
17 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Moskal was blessed with organizational |
18 |
| talent, executive expertise, realistic optimism, genuine |
19 |
| enthusiasm, a Christian disposition, and gentlemanly |
20 |
| constitution; he lived out the ideals of his heritage, the |
21 |
| mission of his fraternal, and the vision of his heart's |
22 |
| dedication; and |
23 |
| WHEREAS, The passing of Edward J. Moskal has been deeply |
24 |
| felt by many, especially his wife, Wanda (nee Sadlik); his |
25 |
| daughter Pamela (Dennis) Komorowski; his brother, Chester |
26 |
| (Joan) Moskal; his sister, Irene DelGiudice; his |
27 |
| granddaughters, Joyce (Joseph) Selby, Mary (Dariusz) |
28 |
| Wieczorkiewicz, and Lisa Komorowski; his great-grandchildren, |
29 |
| Joseph, Jason, and Jamie Selby, and Ryan Wieczorkiewicz; and |
30 |
| his numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins; therefore, be it |
31 |
| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |

| NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
