| WHEREAS, A retirement celebration is being held in honor of |
3 |
| Robert F. Plotzke, Executive Director of Rolling Prairie |
4 |
| Library System (RPLS) in Decatur, on June 21, 2005; and
|
5 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Plotzke holds a B.S. from the University of |
6 |
| Wisconsin, a Master of Library Sciences from Florida State |
7 |
| University, and an M.B.A. from East Tennessee State University; |
8 |
| and
|
9 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Plotzke joined the Rolling Prairie Library |
10 |
| System as Executive Director in October of 1978; since that |
11 |
| time he has led the System through two remodeling programs, |
12 |
| including taking a former Piggly Wiggly grocery building and |
13 |
| transforming it into a modern, state-of-the-art office |
14 |
| facility; he has guided Rolling Prairie Library System through |
15 |
| many changes in its services as the role of the System has |
16 |
| changed to meet the needs of its member libraries and the |
17 |
| citizens of Illinois; and
|
18 |
| WHEREAS, As more libraries were established within Rolling |
19 |
| Prairie Library System's thirteen-county region, he moved the |
20 |
| System away from being a provider of materials to a facilitator |
21 |
| of resource sharing; he oversaw the development of the delivery |
22 |
| system and several automation upgrades, which enabled RPLS |
23 |
| libraries and their patrons to receive materials from other |
24 |
| Rolling Prairie Library System libraries in a timely fashion; |
25 |
| he provided leadership when library systems in Illinois were |
26 |
| faced with severe funding challenges, enabling the System to |
27 |
| continue to provide consulting, training, and leadership to |
28 |
| Rolling Prairie Library System libraries; and
|
29 |
| WHEREAS, In addition, Bob provided building construction |
30 |
| consulting services to more than 40 public libraries in |
31 |
| Illinois, working with library boards, librarians, and |
