| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
3 |
| Representatives were deeply saddened to learn of the death of |
4 |
| David M. Livingston of Decatur on March 9, 2005; and
|
5 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Livingston was born on July 26, 1935, to |
6 |
| Charles and Mattie (Sanders) Livingston in Decatur; he was |
7 |
| raised by Mr. and Mrs. Mattison Smith; he married Alyce J. Polk |
8 |
| in 1961; they had two children, David C. Livingston and Malcolm |
9 |
| J. Livingston; Alyce passed away in 1998; he married Donna |
10 |
| (Rogers) Livingston in 2000; and
|
11 |
| WHEREAS, He was a veteran of the United States Army; he |
12 |
| retired from Archer Daniels Midland Corporate Office after 26 |
13 |
| years of service; he served as an elected member of the Macon |
14 |
| County Board, Emanon Club, and the board for Heritage |
15 |
| Behavioral Health Center and was a member of the |
16 |
| Jefferson-Jackson Club; and
|
17 |
| WHEREAS, He was known nationally and statewide for |
18 |
| promoting individual and civil rights; he was very involved and |
19 |
| committed to the NAACP; he was President of the NAACP Illinois |
20 |
| Conference of Branches for 10 years and was an NAACP National |
21 |
| Board Member; and
|
22 |
| WHEREAS, He was a lifelong member of The First Church of |
23 |
| God In Christ and was the choir director for many, many years; |
24 |
| and
|
25 |
| WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his first wife, his |
26 |
| parents, seven brothers, Charles L. Livingston, Jr., J. Edgar |
27 |
| Livingston, Toledo "TO" Livingston, Roscoe Livingston, Nolan |
28 |
| D. Livingston, Rudolph "Rudy" Livingston, and Robert "Bobby |
29 |
| Lee" Livingston, and his twin sister; and
|
