| HOUSE RESOLUTION
|
| 2 |
| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 |
| Representatives congratulate Kaskaskia College in Centralia on |
| 4 |
| the occasion of its 65th anniversary; and
|
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, On September 9, 1940, Centralia Township Junior |
| 6 |
| College began its operation as the first tax-supported junior |
| 7 |
| college in the State of Illinois; twenty-six years later on |
| 8 |
| July 1, 1966, under the new Public Junior College Act, the |
| 9 |
| district expanded and the College became known as Kaskaskia |
| 10 |
| College District 501 - the first college under the new law; and
|
| 11 |
| WHEREAS, More than 100,000 students have graduated from |
| 12 |
| Kaskaskia College since its founding; and
|
| 13 |
| WHEREAS, With an enrollment growth of 89.8 percent, |
| 14 |
| Kaskaskia College is the fastest growing institution in the |
| 15 |
| State of Illinois over the past four years; this past year, |
| 16 |
| 11,000 students enrolled on campus and at its education |
| 17 |
| centers; and
|
| 18 |
| WHEREAS, Community College Week recently recognized |
| 19 |
| Kaskaskia College as the fourth fastest growing community |
| 20 |
| college in the nation; therefore, be it
|
| 21 |
| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
| 22 |
| NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
| 23 |
| we congratulate Kaskaskia College and its alumni on their 65th |
| 24 |
| anniversary and thank its leadership team for making student |
| 25 |
| success its priority; and be it further
|
| 26 |
| RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
| 27 |
| presented to Kaskaskia College as an expression of our |
| 28 |
| admiration and esteem.
