| WHEREAS, The members of this Body are honored to recognize |
3 |
| significant milestones in the lives of the people of this |
4 |
| State; and
|
5 |
| WHEREAS, It has come to our attention that Catherine Ann |
6 |
| Lancaster of Flossmoor is celebrating the 80th anniversary of |
7 |
| her birth; and
|
8 |
| WHEREAS, Catherine Ann Grimes was born on March 15, 1925, |
9 |
| in Louisville, Kentucky, to Charles A. Grimes and Zona Mae |
10 |
| (Hood) Grimes; and
|
11 |
| WHEREAS, Catherine attended primary and secondary school |
12 |
| in Memphis, Tennessee; in 1946, she received her diploma in |
13 |
| nursing from St. Joseph Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee; she |
14 |
| received her post graduate certification in operating room |
15 |
| nursing from the University of Chicago in 1951; in 1984, she |
16 |
| earned a Bachelor of Science in health arts from the University |
17 |
| of St. Francis in Joliet; and
|
18 |
| WHEREAS, Mrs. Lancaster spent many years working as a nurse |
19 |
| in the State of Illinois; she worked at University of Chicago |
20 |
| Hospitals, Ingalls Memorial Hospital, and at Christ Community |
21 |
| Hospital from 1961 until her retirement in 1987; at Christ |
22 |
| Community Hospital, now known as Advocate Christ Medical Center |
23 |
| in Oak Lawn, she worked as assistant supervisor of surgery, |
24 |
| operating room supervisor and clinical instruction |
25 |
| (Evangelical School of Nursing), and as director of surgical |
26 |
| services including operating room, recovery room, Surgi-Care |
27 |
| Center, and the surgical intensive care unit; and |
28 |
| WHEREAS, She served in the United States Nursing Cadet |
29 |
| Corps from 1943 to 1946 during World War II; she is a member of |
30 |
| the Illinois Nurses Association District 1 and District 8, and |
