| HOUSE RESOLUTION
|
| 2 |
| WHEREAS, The illegal distribution of methamphetamine is of |
| 3 |
| grave concern to the people of the State of Illinois; and
|
| 4 |
| WHEREAS, Pseudoephedrine is a precursor chemical in the |
| 5 |
| manufacture of methamphetamine; and
|
| 6 |
| WHEREAS, The House of Representatives recognizes that |
| 7 |
| there is a legitimate medicinal use for products containing |
| 8 |
| pseudoephedrine but that these products have sometimes been |
| 9 |
| purchased as an ingredient in the illegal manufacture of |
| 10 |
| methamphetamine; and
|
| 11 |
| WHEREAS, There exists a patchwork of federal and state laws |
| 12 |
| concerning the distribution of products containing |
| 13 |
| pseudoephedrine; and
|
| 14 |
| WHEREAS, The Congress should enact a single nationwide |
| 15 |
| standard relating to the distribution and sale of products |
| 16 |
| containing pseudoephedrine; therefore, be it
|
| 17 |
| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
| 18 |
| NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
| 19 |
| we urge the Congress of the United States to enact legislation |
| 20 |
| that provides for a single nationwide standard relating to the |
| 21 |
| sale and distribution of products containing pseudoephedrine; |
| 22 |
| and be it further
|
| 23 |
| RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be |
| 24 |
| forwarded to the Speaker of the United States House of |
| 25 |
| Representatives, the President pro tempore of the United States |
| 26 |
| Senate, and to each member of the Illinois Congressional |
| 27 |
| delegation.
