| HOUSE RESOLUTION
|

| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
3 |
| Representatives wish to congratulate Rebecca Evans Caldwell, |
4 |
| an esteemed resident of North Chicago, on the occasion of the |
5 |
| celebration of her 100th birthday on January 29, 2005; and
|
6 |
| WHEREAS, Rebecca Evans Caldwell was born in Marion, Alabama |
7 |
| on January 29, 1905 to Emma Green Evans and Rufus Evans; she |
8 |
| was the oldest of six children; and
|
9 |
| WHEREAS, She was active in Morning Star Baptist Church |
10 |
| activities and attended the local school; she was a young adult |
11 |
| when she left to go to Cleveland, Ohio, where she worked for |
12 |
| many years; and
|
13 |
| WHEREAS, In the 1950s, she moved to Chicago with her late |
14 |
| husband; she later moved to North Chicago, joining the |
15 |
| Christian Valley M.B. Church; she joined the Mother's Board and |
16 |
| was appointed Chaplain; years later, she was nominated |
17 |
| President of the Board, a post she held for many years; she now |
18 |
| serves as Vice-President of the Board; and
|
19 |
| WHEREAS, She has three children, one daughter and two sons; |
20 |
| she has six grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, and |
21 |
| great-great-grandchildren; therefore, be it
|

| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
23 |
| NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
24 |
| we extend our heartiest congratulations and best wishes to |
25 |
| Rebecca Evans Caldwell on the occasion of her 100th birthday; |
26 |
| that we commend her for achieving a long and fulfilling life, |
27 |
| and we wish her continued happiness in the future; and be it |
28 |
