| HOUSE RESOLUTION
|

| WHEREAS, Studies indicate that 44% of the State's traffic |
3 |
| deaths are alcohol-related; and
|
4 |
| WHEREAS, Illinois was listed on the "Fatal Fifteen" list |
5 |
| compiled by the national physicians group End Needless Death on |
6 |
| Our Roadways; and |
7 |
| WHEREAS, Additional attention should be given to the problem of |
8 |
| drunk driving and related issues; therefore, be it
|
9 |
| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
10 |
| NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that a |
11 |
| task force be established to recommend steps that the State |
12 |
| might take to reduce drunk driving; and be it further
|
13 |
| RESOLVED, That the task force shall include: one |
14 |
| legislative member and one private citizen member appointed by |
15 |
| each of the following: the Speaker and Minority Leader of the |
16 |
| House of Representatives; one private citizen appointed by the |
17 |
| Governor; and one member appointed by each of the following: |
18 |
| the Department of Transportation; the Department of State |
19 |
| Police; the Illinois Emergency Management Agency; the |
20 |
| Department of Public Health; the Department of Corrections; |
21 |
| Mothers Against Drunk Driving; the Fraternal Order of Police; |
22 |
| the Illinois Sheriffs Association; and the Illinois |
23 |
| Firefighters Association; and be it further
|
24 |
| RESOLVED, That the task force shall file a report of its |
25 |
| findings and recommendations with the House of Representatives |
26 |
| and the Governor by January 1, 2007; and be it further |
27 |
| RESOLVED, that copies of this Resolution be delivered to |
28 |
| the Governor, the Secretary of Transportation, the Directors of |
29 |
| the State Police, Public Health, Corrections, and the Illinois |
