| HOUSE RESOLUTION
|

| WHEREAS, Marine Lance Corporal Sean Maher of the Grayslake |
3 |
| area died February 2, 2005, while conducting security |
4 |
| operations in Iraq two days before he was to leave the country |
5 |
| as his tour was ending; his unit, the 1st Marine Expeditionary |
6 |
| Force, was ambushed in Al Anbar province near Fallujah; and
|
7 |
| WHEREAS, He talked about joining the Marines on March 19, |
8 |
| 2003, the day the United States invaded Iraq; within a week, he |
9 |
| had enlisted and turned down an opportunity to enroll at |
10 |
| Southern Illinois University; he left for boot camp two months |
11 |
| after graduating from high school; and
|
12 |
| WHEREAS, He was a 2003 Warren Township graduate and had |
13 |
| been a member of the school's varsity football, swim, and track |
14 |
| teams; and
|
15 |
| WHEREAS, He will be remembered as being kind, generous, and |
16 |
| athletic; he was a bright light, a fun-loving young man who was |
17 |
| mature beyond his 19 years; he had a good sense of humor and a |
18 |
| good sense of duty; and
|
19 |
| WHEREAS, He is survived by his father and mother, Daniel |
20 |
| and Janet Maher; his sister, Katie; his brother, Dan; and his |
21 |
| aunt, Peggy O'Keefe; therefore, be it
|

| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
23 |
| NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
24 |
| together with his family, friends, fellow members of the United |
25 |
| States armed forces, and the citizens of this State and this |
26 |
| great nation, we mourn the passing of Marine Lance Corporal |
27 |
| Sean Maher and we extend to his family our sincerest |
28 |
| condolences; and be it further
