| HOUSE RESOLUTION
|
2 |
| WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the |
3 |
| State of Illinois wish to congratulate Kathleen Schmidt, an |
4 |
| esteemed resident of Chicago, on the occasion of the |
5 |
| celebration of her 100th birthday on January 23, 2005; and
|
6 |
| WHEREAS, She was born Kathleen Ryan in Chicago in 1905, the |
7 |
| daughter of Margeret and Daniel Ryan, Sr.; she was one of nine |
8 |
| children; all of her family are deceased except for Kathleen, |
9 |
| her sister, Alice O'Connor, and her niece and nephew, Georgia |
10 |
| and Dan O'Connor; and
|
11 |
| WHEREAS, She attended St. Bernard Grammar School and |
12 |
| Loretto High School; after attending business school, she went |
13 |
| to work for Rock Island Railroad where she attained the |
14 |
| position of Executive Secretary before retiring; and
|
15 |
| WHEREAS, At age 48, Kathleen married Robert Schmidt and |
16 |
| moved to Millersburg, Ohio where she lived until age 80 and |
17 |
| Robert passed away; she returned to Chicago and took up |
18 |
| residence at Resurrection Retirement Community, where she |
19 |
| still resides; therefore, be it
|

| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
21 |
| NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
22 |
| we extend our heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to |
23 |
| Kathleen Schmidt on the occasion of her 100th birthday; that we |
24 |
| commend her for achieving a long and fulfilling life, and we |
25 |
| wish her continued happiness and good health in the future; and |
26 |
| be it further
|

| RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
28 |
| presented to Kathleen Schmidt as an expression of our utmost |
29 |
| respect and esteem.
