| WHEREAS, During the 2004-2005 season, a century of |

| University of Illinois basketball tradition and excellence is |
4 |
| being celebrated as the Fighting Illini play their 100th year |
5 |
| of varsity basketball; and
|
6 |
| WHEREAS, The tradition of Illinois basketball ranks among |
7 |
| the best in the nation; it is a passion with fans throughout |
8 |
| the State and alumni around the world; Illinois ranks as the |
9 |
| sixteenth-winningest basketball program in the history of the |
10 |
| game with more than 1,470 wins since its very first game on |
11 |
| January 12, 1906; the Illini have won or shared 16 Big Ten |
12 |
| championships, played in 24 NCAA Tournaments, and advanced to |
13 |
| four Final Fours since Elwood Brown coached the first Illinois |
14 |
| basketball squad; and
|
15 |
| WHEREAS, To help commemorate the 100th year of basketball |
16 |
| as a varsity sport this season, the University of Illinois |
17 |
| Division of Intercollegiate Athletics has unveiled its |
18 |
| All-Century Team; this 20-man team was selected after voting by |
19 |
| thousands of fans on www.fightingillini.com and the Illinois |
20 |
| Basketball Centennial Committee; the team will be honored |
21 |
| during the Illinois Basketball Centennial Reunion Weekend, |
22 |
| January 28 through January 30, 2005, and banners displaying the |
23 |
| names of the All-Century Team will hang permanently at the |
24 |
| Assembly Hall; and
|

| WHEREAS, The members of the All-Century team are Ray Woods |
