| HOUSE RESOLUTION
|
2 |
| WHEREAS, It is the distinct privilege of the members of the |
3 |
| House of Representatives to recognize citizens that have shown |
4 |
| heroic efforts on behalf of the life of another citizen; and
|
5 |
| WHEREAS, On the evening of Friday, November 12, 2004, Gerry |
6 |
| Jenich was returning to his Grayslake home, when he happened by |
7 |
| the scene of a deer-related crash; six young people had been |
8 |
| riding in an SUV in Grayslake, when the vehicle rolled over |
9 |
| after the driver swerved to avoid hitting a deer; and
|
10 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Jenich, who had previously worked as a |
11 |
| flight-rescue medic and nurse for one of Michigan's first life |
12 |
| support units in Michigan's Upper Peninsula, quickly tallied |
13 |
| the number of passengers and inquired about their injuries; he |
14 |
| found Blake Harmon lying about 30 feet in front of the SUV; and
|
15 |
| WHEREAS, Even though it had been ten years since he worked |
16 |
| as a paramedic, Mr. Jenich immediately began to care for Blake; |
17 |
| while awaiting the arrival of the 911 crew, he twice revived |
18 |
| Blake's breathing by rubbing the sternum with light pressure |
19 |
| from his knuckles, receiving assistance from one of the |
20 |
| teenagers during the effort; and
|
21 |
| WHEREAS, Blake was transported to Advocate Lutheran |
22 |
| General Hospital in Park Ridge and was released on Monday, |
23 |
| November 29, 2004; therefore, be it
|

| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
25 |
| NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
26 |
| we honor Gerry Jenich for his heroic efforts to save the life |
27 |
| of Blake Harmon; and be it further
|
28 |
| RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
29 |
| presented to Mr. Jenich as an expression of our deepest respect |
