| HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION

| WHEREAS, The Peoria Richwoods High School Lady Knights won |
3 |
| the 2005 Class AA girls basketball state championship by |
4 |
| defeating Bartlett by the score of 52 to 48 on March 5, 2005, |
5 |
| in Normal; and
|
6 |
| WHEREAS, The Lady Knights had a perfect 38-0 record, and |
7 |
| their 38 wins set a new state girls basketball record for most |
8 |
| victories in a season; the Lady Knights are the first Class AA |
9 |
| girls basketball state champions from outside the Chicago |
10 |
| metropolitan area since 1986; and
|
11 |
| WHEREAS, The team members include senior captains Megan |
12 |
| McGann and Stephanie Cole; seniors L'Trice Gulley, Anna Pille, |
13 |
| Kate Clark, and Kara Shoemaker; juniors Kim Knaub, Elizabeth |
14 |
| Sinclair, Jewel Sanders, Kylee Grant, Jacq Richmond, and Hanna |
15 |
| Reising; and sophomores Biannca Ward, Rachal Waldschmidt, and |
16 |
| Alex Starks; and
|
17 |
| WHEREAS, The coaching staff includes Head Coach John Gross
|
18 |
| and Assistant Coaches Ralph Gallo, Todd Hursey, Tom McGhee, and |
19 |
| Kenneth Baker; and |
20 |
| WHEREAS, Biannca Ward earned first-team all-state honors |
21 |
| from the Chicago Tribune, the Associated Press, the Illinois |
22 |
| Basketball Coaches Association, and the Champaign |
23 |
| News-Gazette; she also earned first-team all-tournament |
24 |
| honors; and
|
25 |
| WHEREAS, The students, staff, and parents at Richwoods and |
26 |
| all of Peoria have supported the Lady Knights and are |
27 |
| justifiably proud of the team's exemplary performance and hard |
28 |
| work; therefore, be it
