| Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|

| represented in the General Assembly:
|

| Section 5. The School Code is amended by adding Section |
5 |
| 27-23.7 as follows: |

| (105 ILCS 5/27-23.7 new) |

| Sec. 27-23.7. Advanced placement courses. |
8 |
| (a) In this Section, "AP course" means a college-level |
9 |
| advanced placement course offered through the Advanced |
10 |
| Placement Program of the College Board. |
11 |
| (b) Each public high school in this State must offer to its |
12 |
| students at least one AP course in mathematics and one AP |
13 |
| course in English.

| Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect July 1, |
15 |
| 2006.
|
