Amends the Illinois Procurement Code. Requires all automobiles purchased from State funds to be flexible fuel vehicles. Defines "flexible fuel vehicles" as automobiles or light trucks with the ability to operate on both gasoline and alternative fuels such as E-85. Authorizes the Chief Procurement Officer to exempt certain vehicle classes from this requirement based on intended use or other reasonable considerations.

| AN ACT concerning finance.

| Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|

| represented in the General Assembly:
|

| Section 5. The Illinois Procurement Code is amended by |
5 |
| adding Section 25-75 as follows: |
6 |
| (30 ILCS 500/25-75 new) |

| Sec. 25-75. Purchase of motor vehicles. On and after the |
8 |
| effective date of this amendatory Act of the 94th General |
9 |
| Assembly, all automobiles purchased from State funds must be |
10 |
| flexible fuel vehicles. For purposes of this Section, "flexible |
11 |
| fuel vehicles" are automobiles or light trucks with the ability |
12 |
| to operate on both gasoline and alternative fuels such as E-85 |
13 |
| (85% Ethanol & 15% gasoline). The Chief Procurement Officer may |
14 |
| determine that certain vehicle classes are exempt from this |
15 |
| Section based on intended use or other reasonable |
16 |
| considerations.
