| AN ACT concerning civil law.
|

| Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
3 |
| represented in the General Assembly:
|

| Section 5. The Local Governmental and Governmental |
5 |
| Employees Tort
Immunity Act is amended by changing Section |
6 |
| 1-206 as follows:
|

| (745 ILCS 10/1-206) (from Ch. 85, par. 1-206)
|

| Sec. 1-206. "Local public entity" includes a county, |
9 |
| township,
municipality, municipal corporation, school |
10 |
| district, school board,
educational service region, regional |
11 |
| board of school trustees,
trustees of schools of townships, |
12 |
| treasurers of schools of townships, community college |
13 |
| district, community college board, forest
preserve district, |
14 |
| park district, fire protection district, sanitary
district, |
15 |
| museum district, emergency telephone system board, and all |
16 |
| other
local governmental bodies.
"Local public entity" also |
17 |
| includes library systems and any
intergovernmental agency or |
18 |
| similar entity formed pursuant to the
Constitution of the State |
19 |
| of Illinois or the Intergovernmental Cooperation
Act as well as |
20 |
| any not-for-profit corporation organized for the purpose of
|
21 |
| conducting public business. It does not include the State or |
22 |
| any office,
officer, department, division, bureau, board, |
23 |
| commission, university or
similar agency of the State.
|

| The changes made by this amendatory Act of the 94th General |
25 |
| Assembly do not apply to an action or proceeding accruing on or |
26 |
| before its effective date.

| Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon |

| becoming law.
