765 ILCS 605/30.5 new










    Amends the Condominium Property Act.  Provides that, in the case of the conversion of an apartment building into  condominium units, a municipality shall have the right to inspect the apartment building  prior to the conversion to condominium units and may require that each new proposed condominium unit comply with the current life safety, building, and zoning codes of the municipality.  Effective immediately.

    AN ACT concerning property.

    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,

represented in the General Assembly:

    Section 5. The Condominium Property Act is amended  by 
5
adding Section 30.5 as follows:

    (765 ILCS 605/30.5 new)

    Sec. 30.5. Conversion of apartments.  In the case of the 
8
conversion of an apartment building into  condominium units, a 
9
municipality shall have the right to inspect the apartment 
10
building  prior to the conversion to condominium units and may 
11
require that each new proposed condominium unit comply with the 
12
current life safety, building, and zoning codes of the 
13
municipality.

    Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon 
15
becoming law.
