A BILL FOR

HB2882 |

|
|
1 |
| AN ACT concerning housing.
|
2 |
| Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, |
3 |
| represented in the General Assembly:
|
4 |
| Section 5. The Illinois Affordable Housing Act is amended |
5 |
| by changing Section 2 as follows:
|
6 |
| (310 ILCS 65/2) (from Ch. 67 1/2, par. 1252)
|
7 |
| Sec. 2. Legislative findings and declarations. It is hereby |
8 |
| found
and
and declared that an acute shortage of affordable |
9 |
| housing exists in
the State of Illinois; and that this crisis |
10 |
| has been exacerbated by a sharp
reduction in federal funding |
11 |
| for affordable housing, by the potential
prepayment of |
12 |
| subsidized federal mortgages, and by an inability on the part
|
13 |
| of local government to meet this need. New State resources must |
14 |
| therefore
be directed to alleviate the shortage of affordable |
15 |
| housing. It is further
intended that limited new State |
16 |
| resources be allocated in a manner that
maximizes collaboration |
17 |
| among federal, State and local agencies as well as
the private |
18 |
| sector. |
