| AN ACT concerning courts.
|

| Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, |
3 |
| represented in the General Assembly:
|

| Section 5. The Juvenile Court Act of 1987 is amended by |
5 |
| changing Section 6-3 as follows:
|

| (705 ILCS 405/6-3) (from Ch. 37, par. 806-3)

| Sec. 6-3. Court Services Departments; counties over |
8 |
| 1,000,000. |
9 |
| (1) Any county having more than 1,000,000 inhabitants shall |
10 |
| maintain a
Court Services Department, which shall be under the
|
11 |
| the authority and
supervision of the chief judge of the circuit |
12 |
| or of some other judge
designated by him. |
13 |
| (2) The functions and duties of probation personnel of the |
14 |
| Court
Services Department include, but are not limited to, |
15 |
| those described in
Section 6-1. Neither the Court Services |
16 |
| Department nor any of its
personnel must supervise the |
17 |
| probation of any person over 18 years of age
convicted under |
18 |
| the criminal laws, except that the court may order the
|
19 |
| Department to supervise the probation of an adult convicted of |
20 |
| the crime of
contributing to the dependency and neglect of |
21 |
| children or of contributing
to the delinquency of children.
|

| (3) The Court Services Department in any such county shall |
23 |
| provide
psychiatric clinical services relating to the purposes |
24 |
| of this Act when so
requested, authorized or ordered by the |
25 |
| court. The Department may be
required by the circuit court to |
26 |
| render psychiatric clinical services to
the court in other |
27 |
| matters as well as in proceedings under this Act.
