| AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend House Bill 2507 by replacing |

| everything after the enacting clause with the following:

| "Section 5. The Illinois Vehicle Code is amended by |

| changing Section 11-1401 as follows:

| (625 ILCS 5/11-1401) (from Ch. 95 1/2, par. 11-1401)

| Sec. 11-1401. Unattended motor vehicles. |
| 8 |
| (a) No person driving or in charge of
a motor vehicle shall |
| 9 |
| permit it to stand unattended without first stopping the
|
| 10 |
| engine, locking the ignition, removing the key from the
|
| 11 |
| ignition, effectively setting the brake thereon and, when |
| 12 |
| standing upon any
perceptible grade, turning the front
wheels |
| 13 |
| to the curb or side of the highway.
|
| 14 |
| (b) Stopping the engine of an unattended motor vehicle is |
| 15 |
| not required if the engine has been started by a remote car |
| 16 |
| starter.
