| AN ACT concerning medical malpractice.
|

| Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
3 |
| represented in the General Assembly:
|

| Section 5. The Illinois Insurance Code is amended by |
5 |
| changing Section 155.21 as follows:
|
6 |
| (215 ILCS 5/155.21) (from Ch. 73, par. 767.21)
|

| Sec. 155.21. A company writing medical liability insurance |
8 |
| shall not refuse
to offer insurance to a physician, hospital or |
9 |
| other health care provider
on the grounds that the physician, |
10 |
| hospital or health care provider has
entered or intends to |
11 |
| enter an arbitration agreement under
pursuant to the |
12 |
| "Malpractice
Arbitration Act".

13 |
| As used in this Section, medical liability insurance means |
14 |
| insurance on
risks based upon negligence by a physician, |
15 |
| hospital or other health care provider.
