SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
745 ILCS 49/72 new

    Amends the Good Samaritan Act. Provides that any professional engineer, architect, land surveyor, civil engineer, or structural engineer who in good faith provides engineering services in response to a natural disaster or other catastrophic event shall not be liable for civil damages as a result of his or her acts or omissions in providing the engineering services, except for willful and wanton misconduct. Provides that the immunity applies to services that are provided during an emergency or within 90 days following the end of an emergency. Provides that the time may be extended by an executive order issued by the Governor.

1     AN ACT concerning civil immunity.
 
2     Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
 
4     Section 5. The Good Samaritan Act is amended by adding
5 Section 72 as follows:
 
6     (745 ILCS 49/72 new)
7     Sec. 72. Professional engineers, architects, land
8 surveyors, civil engineers, and structural engineers;
9 exemption from civil liability for engineering services in
10 response to natural disasters or catastrophic events. Any
11 professional engineer, architect, land surveyor, civil
12 engineer, or structural engineer who in good faith provides
13 engineering services in response to a natural disaster or other
