| AN ACT concerning transportation.
|

| Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
3 |
| represented in the General Assembly:
|

| Section 5. The Illinois Vehicle Code is amended by changing |
5 |
| Section 12-611 as follows:
|

| (625 ILCS 5/12-611) (from Ch. 95 1/2, par. 12-611)

| Sec. 12-611. Excessive sound amplification.
|
8 |
| (a) No driver of any motor vehicle within this State shall
|
9 |
| operate or permit operation of any sound amplification system |
10 |
| which can be
heard outside the vehicle from 75 or more feet |
11 |
| when the vehicle is being
operated upon a highway, unless such |
12 |
| system is being operated to
request assistance or warn of a |
13 |
| hazardous situation.
|
14 |
| (b) This Section does not apply to authorized emergency |
15 |
| vehicles.
|
16 |
| (c) Any violation of the provisions of this Section is a |
17 |
| Class B misdemeanor
shall be a petty
offense punishable by a |
18 |
| fine not to exceed $50 .
