Creates the Asthma Inhalers at Recreational Camps Act. Provides that a recreational camp shall permit a child with severe, potentially life-threatening allergies to possess and use an epinephrine auto-injector provided certain conditions are met. Provides that the recreational camp shall obtain information from the child's physician concerning the child's health and proper administration of any medication. Provides that if the conditions of the Act are met, the child may possess and use an epinephrine auto-injector at the recreational camp or at any camp sponsored activity, event, or program. Defines "physician" and "recreational camps".

| AN ACT concerning health.
|

| Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
3 |
| represented in the General Assembly:
|

| Section 1. Short title. This Act may be cited as the Asthma |
5 |
| Inhalers at Recreational Camps Act. |
6 |
| Section 5. Definitions. In this Act: |
7 |
| "Physician" means any physician or health practitioner |
8 |
| with the authority to write prescriptions. |
9 |
| "Recreational camp" means any place set apart for |
10 |
| recreational purposes for boys and girls. "Recreational camp" |
11 |
| shall not apply to private camps owned or leased for individual |
12 |
| or family use, or to any camp operated for a period of less |
13 |
| than 10 days in a year.

| Section 10. Possession and use of epinephrine |
15 |
| auto-injectors at recreation camps. |
16 |
| (a) A recreation camp shall permit a child with severe, |
17 |
| potentially life-threatening allergies to possess and use an |
18 |
| epinephrine auto-injector, if the following conditions are |
19 |
| satisfied: |
20 |
| (1) The child has the written approval of his or her |
21 |
| physician and the written approval of his or her parent or |
22 |
| guardian. |
23 |
| (2) The recreational camp administrator or, if a nurse |
24 |
| is assigned to the camp, the nurse shall receive copies of |
25 |
| the written approvals required under paragraph (1) of |
26 |
| subsection (a) of this Section. |
27 |
| (3) The child's parent or guardian shall submit written |
28 |
| verification from the physician confirming that the child |
29 |
| has the knowledge and skills to safely possess and use an |
30 |
| epinephrine auto-injector in a camp setting. |

| (b) The camp shall obtain the following information from |
