Amends the Podiatric Medical Practice Act of 1987. Removes the exception of the administration of general anesthetics and the amputation of the human foot from the definition of "podiatric medicine" or "podiatry". Provides that of the moneys deposited into the Illinois State Podiatric Disciplinary Fund, during each 2-year renewal period, $200,000 (rather than 15%) of the money received from the payment of renewal fees shall be used for certain scholarships, residency programs, and other expenses. Effective immediately.

| AN ACT concerning regulation.

| Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|

| represented in the General Assembly:
|

| Section 5. The Podiatric Medical Practice Act of 1987 is |
5 |
| amended by changing Sections 5 and 19 as follows:
|

| Sec. 5. Definitions. As used in this Act:
|
9 |
| (A) "Department" means the Department of Professional |
10 |
| Regulation.
|
11 |
| (B) "Director" means the Director of Professional |
12 |
| Regulation.
|
13 |
| (C) "Board" means the Podiatric Medical Licensing Board |
14 |
| appointed
by
the Director.
|
15 |
| (D) "Podiatric medicine" or"podiatry" means the
diagnosis, |
16 |
| medical,
physical, or surgical treatment of the ailments of the |
17 |
| human foot with the
exception of administration of general |
18 |
| anesthetics and the amputation of
the human foot . For the |
19 |
| purposes of this Act, the terms podiatric medicine,
podiatry |
20 |
| and chiropody have the same definition.
|

| (E) "Human foot" means the ankle and soft tissue which |
22 |
| insert
into the
foot as well as the foot.
|
23 |
| (F) "Podiatric physician" means a physician licensed to |
24 |
| practice
podiatric medicine.
|
25 |
| (G) "Postgraduate training" means a minimum one year |
26 |
| postdoctoral
structured and supervised educational experience |
27 |
| approved by the Council on
Podiatric Medical Education of the |
28 |
| American Podiatric Medical Association
which includes |
29 |
| residencies and preceptorships.
