SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
720 ILCS 5/12-10.3 new

    Amends the Criminal Code of 1961. Provides that a physician licensed to practice medicine in all of its branches may not implant pieces of jewelry into the mucous membrane of the eye. Provides that a violation is a Class 4 felony. Provides that the clerk of the court shall forward a copy of the judgment of conviction of a physician for a violation of this provision to the Department of Financial and Professional Regulation and the Medical Disciplinary Board for appropriate disciplinary action under the Medical Practice Act of 1987.

1     AN ACT concerning criminal law.
 
2     Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
 
4     Section 5. The Criminal Code of 1961 is amended by adding
5 Section 12-10.3 as follows:
 
6     (720 ILCS 5/12-10.3 new)
7     Sec. 12-10.3. Jewelry eye implants prohibited.
8     (a) A physician licensed to practice medicine in all of its
9 branches may not implant pieces of jewelry into the mucous
10 membrane of the eye.
11     (b) Sentence. A violation of this Section is a Class 4
12 felony.
13     (c) The clerk of the court shall forward a copy of the
14 judgment of conviction of any physician who violates this
15 Section to the Department of Financial and Professional
16 Regulation and the Medical Disciplinary Board for appropriate
17 disciplinary action under Section 22 of the Medical Practice
18 Act of 1987.
