| AN ACT concerning State government.
|

| Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
| 3 |
| represented in the General Assembly:
|
| 4 |
| Section 5. The Illinois Early Learning Council Act is |
| 5 |
| amended by changing Section 5 as follows:
|

| Sec. 5. Illinois Early Learning Council. The Illinois Early
|
| 8 |
| Learning Council is hereby created to coordinate existing |
| 9 |
| programs
and services for children from birth to 5 years of age |
| 10 |
| in order to better
meet the early learning needs of children |
| 11 |
| and their families.
The goal of the Council is to fulfill the |
| 12 |
| vision of a statewide, high-quality,
accessible,
and |
| 13 |
| comprehensive early learning system to benefit all young |
| 14 |
| children whose
parents
choose it. The Council shall guide |
| 15 |
| collaborative efforts to improve and expand
upon
existing early |
| 16 |
| childhood programs and services, including those related to |
| 17 |
| nutrition, nutrition education, and physical activity, in |
| 18 |
| coordination with the Interagency Nutrition Council. This work |
| 19 |
| shall include making
use of
existing reports, research, and |
| 20 |
| planning efforts.
