Amends the Good Samaritan Act. Provides immunity for any physician licensed under the Medical Practice Act of 1987 to practice medicine in all its branches or licensed to practice the treatment of human ailments in any other state or territory of the United States, any nurse licensed under the Nursing and Advanced Practice Nursing Act, any paramedic, or any emergency medical technician who provides assistance to a law enforcement officer while the officer is engaged in tactical operations.

| AN ACT concerning civil immunity.

| Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
3 |
| represented in the General Assembly:
|

| Section 5. The Good Samaritan Act is amended by adding |
5 |
| Section 27 as follows: |

| (745 ILCS 49/27 new) |

| Sec. 27. Exemption from civil liability for assistance to |
8 |
| law enforcement officers. Any physician licensed under the |
9 |
| Medical Practice Act of 1987 to practice medicine in all its |
10 |
| branches or licensed to practice the treatment of human |
11 |
| ailments in any other state or territory of the United States, |
12 |
| any nurse licensed under the Nursing and Advanced Practice |
13 |
| Nursing Act, any paramedic, or any emergency medical |
14 |
| technician, who, in good faith and with or without fee to a |
15 |
| person, provides assistance to a law enforcement officer while |
16 |
| the officer is engaged in tactical operations shall not, as a |
17 |
| result of his or her acts or omissions, except willful or |
18 |
| wanton misconduct on the part of the person, in providing the |
19 |
| care, be liable for civil damages.
