Synopsis As Introduced
Amends the Minimum Wage Law. Makes a technical change in a Section concerning overtime.

Senate Floor Amendment No. 1

Adds reference to:
820 ILCS 105/4from Ch. 48, par. 1004

Replaces everything after the enacting clause. Amends the Minimum Wage Law. Provides that, from July 1, 2007 through December 31, 2007, every employer shall pay each employee wages of not less than $7.50 per hour, and applies the minimum wage to all employees, rather than employees who are 18 years of age or older (and also deletes language providing that wages paid to any employee under 18 years of age may not be more than 50 cents less than the wage required to be paid to employees who are at least 18 years of age). Provides that, beginning January 1, 2008, the minimum wage shall be annually increased by the Department of Labor of Labor using the consumer price index for urban wage earners and clerical workers. Provides that employees shall be paid either the State minimum wage or the federal minimum wage, whichever is higher. Effective July 1, 2007.
