Synopsis As Introduced
Amends the School Code. Makes a technical change in a Section concerning teacher certification.

Senate Floor Amendment No. 1
Deletes reference to:
105 ILCS 5/21-2b
Adds reference to:
105 ILCS 5/21-2.1from Ch. 122, par. 21-2.1

Deletes everything after the enacting clause. Amends the School Code. With respect to an early childhood certificate, provides that a student teacher must be under the active supervision of a cooperating teacher who is certified and qualified in early childhood education or in self-contained, general elementary education (instead of just early childhood education). Provides that all candidates for the early childhood certificate (instead of just paraprofessionals) with at least one year of experience in a school or community-based early childhood setting who are enrolled in early-childhood teacher preparation programs may be paid and receive credit while student teaching with their current employer, provided that their student teaching experience meets the requirements of their early-childhood teacher preparation program. Effective January 1, 2007.
