Synopsis As Introduced
Amends the Illinois Vehicle Code. Provides that the local authority of a city, village, or incorporated town or park district may decrease the speed limit in a residential district to less than 25 miles per hour if the Department of Transportation has conducted a study of the park district, city, village, or incorporated town and agrees to the reduction.

House Amendment No. 1
Provides that a city, village, incorporated town, or park district may increase the fine for a speeding violation if it occurs on a residential collector street, a street whose primary function is to collect traffic from local streets in a residence district and to connect traffic to other collector streets and to arterial streets. Provides that the fine for any one violation may not exceed $500.

House Amendment No. 2
Provides that the local authority of a city, village, or incorporated town or park district may decrease the speed limit in a residential district to less than 25 miles per hour if the municipality or county (instead of the Department) has conducted a study of the park district, city, village, or incorporated town and the Department approves the study and agrees to the reduction.
