| SENATE RESOLUTION
|

| WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois |
3 |
| learned with regret of the death of Patrick Michael Righi |
4 |
| Barnard of Crestwood on Thursday, November 25, 2004; and
|
5 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Barnard got his middle name from his father, |
6 |
| former Tazewell County Sheriff's Deputy Michael G. Righi, who |
7 |
| preceded him in death in 1977; and
|
8 |
| WHEREAS, He was a 1992 graduate of Tremont High School, and |
9 |
| had always dreamed of following in his father's footsteps and |
10 |
| becoming a police officer, a dream which became reality; he was |
11 |
| working as an officer with the Burbank Police Department in |
12 |
| Cook County and had plans to become an accident scene |
13 |
| investigator; he had previously worked for the Markham Police |
14 |
| Department; and |
15 |
| WHEREAS, While off-duty, Officer Barnard had stopped to |
16 |
| assist a stranded motorist and was struck in a hit-and-run |
17 |
| accident; he died while he was helping others, which was in his |
18 |
| nature; he will always be remembered for his sense of humor and |
19 |
| his fun-loving attitude; and
|
20 |
| WHEREAS, The passing of Officer Barnard has been deeply |
21 |
| felt by many, especially his parents, Cathy and Robert Barnard; |
22 |
| his sister, Stacey (David) Welter; his fiancee, Shannon Raya; |
23 |
| and his grandmother, Marge Barnard; he was also preceded in |
24 |
| death by his sister, Shelly Righi; therefore, be it
|

| RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-THIRD GENERAL |
26 |
| ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
27 |
| Patrick Michael Righi Barnard, and we extend our sincere |
28 |
| condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved |
29 |
| him; and be it further
