| WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois |
3 |
| learned with sadness of the death of John Heitkotter of Aurora |
4 |
| on August 9, 2004; he had been a longtime resident of Prestbury |
5 |
| and Bonita Springs, Florida; and
|
6 |
| WHEREAS, He was born September 12, 1922, the son of the |
7 |
| late John B. and Theresa (Karnes) Heitkotter; and
|
8 |
| WHEREAS, John graduated from East Aurora High School in |
9 |
| 1941; he served in the First Army Division and participated in |
10 |
| the invasion of Normandy; he earned five campaign Stars: |
11 |
| Normandy, northern France, Ardennes, Rhine, and central |
12 |
| Germany; and
|
13 |
| WHEREAS, He owned Heitkotter's Inc. from 1955 until 1985, |
14 |
| when he sold the family business to his nephew; he was also a |
15 |
| former co-owner of Aucutt's and Elmwood Nursing Home; and
|
16 |
| WHEREAS, He was a member of the Elks in Aurora and Bonita |
17 |
| Springs, the Aurora Moose #400, American Legion Post #84, and |
18 |
| Lions Club; he was on the board for Pension and Welfare Union |
19 |
| and a member of Spanish Wells Country Club and St. Leo's |
20 |
| Catholic Church in Bonita Springs, Florida; and
|
21 |
| WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, |
22 |
| Mary; his brother, Edwin; and his sister, Mary Margaret; and
|
23 |
| WHEREAS, The passing of John Heitkotter will be felt by all |
24 |
| who knew and loved him, especially his daughters, Jeanne |
25 |
| (Robert) Shields, Mary Lynn (Dean) Boling, and Nancy (Keith) |
26 |
| Martin; his grandchildren, John (Katie) Shields, Jennifer |
27 |
| (Dave) Delgado, Juliet and Nicole Boling, and Angela and |
28 |
| Jeffrey Martin; his great-grandchildren, Ken and Alexis |
29 |
| Shields; his sisters, Kathryn Kempiners and Georgine (Ulysses) |
