| WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois |
3 |
| were deeply saddened to learn of the death of Gladys Royce |
4 |
| Drost of Zion on Monday, October 4, 2004; and
|
5 |
| WHEREAS, Ms. Drost was born on November 6, 1921 in Langlade |
6 |
| County, Wisconsin, and came to the Zion area in the 1940's; and
|
7 |
| WHEREAS, Ms. Drost was employed at Warwick Electronics in |
8 |
| Zion for many years, and later retired in 1977 from Victory |
9 |
| Memorial Hospital; as a veteran, Gladys Drost served in World |
10 |
| War II with the Woman's Army Corp. (WAC), and she belonged to |
11 |
| the Winthrop Harbor Veterans of Foreign Wars, the White Lake, |
12 |
| Wisconsin American Legion, and the WAC Vets; she received a |
13 |
| Certificate of Honor from the French Government for serving in |
14 |
| France and contributing to the liberation of France in World |
15 |
| War II; she was also a long time member of the Zion-Benton |
16 |
| Women of the Moose; and
|
17 |
| WHEREAS, Gladys Royce Drost was preceded in death by her |
18 |
| husband, Howard in 1989; her son, Barry in 1986; her |
19 |
| granddaughter, Deanna Allen in 2002; her brothers, Avery, |
20 |
| Arnold, Deward, Irvin and William "Dearl" Royce; her sisters, |
21 |
| Ethel Bealmear, Margaret Lambert, Mayme Drost and Joy "Pinky" |
22 |
| Krause; her infant brothers; and her parents, Robert and Bertha |
23 |
| (nee Choate) Royce; and
|
24 |
| WHEREAS, The passing of Gladys Royce Drost will be deeply |
25 |
| felt by many, especially her daughters, Terry Allen and |
26 |
| Lynnette (Brian) Greorgeson; her grandchildren, Melissa Allen |
27 |
| Werve, Jeffrey Drost, Jaclyn Drost, and Angela Clark; her great |
28 |
| grandchildren, Alexis and Patrick Werve; her sisters, |
29 |
| Millicent "Boots" (William) Sunderland and Betty Bylaska; her |
30 |
| brother, Dennis (Geraldine) Royce; her sisters-in-law, Marian |
31 |
| and Janet Royce; and many nieces, nephews and friends; |
