SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois
3 learned with regret of the death of James Earl "Jim" Holt of
4 Alton on Monday, August 9, 2004; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Mr. Holt was born on April 28, 1947 in Alton to
6 John J. "Jim" and Emma K. "Kitty" (Sharp) Holt of Godfrey; he
7 married Christy J. Goeken on June 14, 1969 at St. Mary's
8 Catholic Church in Alton; and
 
9     WHEREAS, After graduation from Alton High School, he
10 attended Southern Illinois University Edwardsville for three
11 years; and
 
12     WHEREAS, Mr. Holt valiantly served his country in the
13 United States Army during the Vietnam War; he was employed as a
14 communications technician with SBC Ameritech for 34 years and
15 retired in June of 2004; and
 
16     WHEREAS, Mr. Holt will be remembered as a loving and
17 devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend to many and
18 enjoyed quality time with his family, especially playing with
19 the grandchildren; he was a longtime member of St. Mary's
20 Catholic Church, Missouri Elks Club, I.B.E.W. Union Local 21,
21 Telephone Pioneers of America, and the VFW Alton Post 1308; he
22 was an avid gardener and fisherman; and
 
23     WHEREAS, The passing of Mr. Holt has been deeply felt by
24 many, especially his parents, Jim and Kitty Holt; his beloved
25 wife of 35 years, Christy; his daughter, Jennifer L. Curvey;
26 his son and daughter-in-law, Michael J. and Beth Holt; his
27 grandchildren, Brittny Holt, Brianna Curvey, Gracey Watson,
28 James Watson, Zac Hildebrand, and Chad Holt; his sister and
29 brother-in-law, Janet and Art Thomason; his brothers and
30 sisters-in-law, Larry and Cindy Holt and Bill Holt and Liz

1 LaSorca; his father-in-law, George W. Goeken; his
2 brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Valerie and David Lewis,
3 Mary and Jeff Donahue, Julie and Chris Henkhaus, Anne Hermann,
4 George and Autume Goeken III, and John and Diane Goeken; his
5 many nieces and nephews and other extended family; and his many
6 dear friends; therefore, be it
 
7     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-THIRD GENERAL
8 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
9 James Earl "Jim" Holt, and we extend our deepest sympathy to
10 his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
11 further
 
12     RESOLVED, That suitable copy of this resolution be
13 presented to the family of Mr. Holt as an expression of our
14 sincerest condolences.
