| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate were saddened |
3 |
| to learn of the death of Erman E. "Wink" Schairer of El Paso on |
4 |
| August 9, 2004; and
|
5 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Schairer was born June 7, 1942, in Sycamore, a |
6 |
| son of Louis and M. Jean Lieving Schairer; he married Sandra J. |
7 |
| Penning on September 4, 1965, in Alton; and
|
8 |
| WHEREAS, He received his bachelors and masters of science |
9 |
| degrees in agriculture from the University of Illinois; in |
10 |
| 1999, he retired from his position at Heartland Bank in El Paso |
11 |
| as senior vice president and farm manager; he served on the |
12 |
| faculty of the Illinois Bankers Association's Agriculture |
13 |
| Lending School; and he was a retired accredited farm manager |
14 |
| designated by the American Society of Farm Managers and Rural |
15 |
| Appraisers; and
|
16 |
| WHEREAS, He was a member of First United Methodist Church |
17 |
| in Normal, where he served on the church finance committee; he |
18 |
| also served on the Board of Directors for the Centrillio |
19 |
| Council of the Girl Scouts; he was a member of El Paso Kiwanis, |
20 |
| and board member and member of the El Paso Golf Club; he served |
21 |
| on the Woodford County Zoning Board of Review, and was a member |
22 |
| of the Board of Directors for the Nabor House Fraternity; and
|
23 |
| WHEREAS, On Thanksgiving Day 2003, "Wink" and his daughter, |
24 |
| Cindy, completed the half marathon in Atlanta, Georgia; he |
25 |
| enjoyed his retirement, especially playing golf, going to |
26 |
| University of Illinois football games with his wife Sandy, and |
27 |
| spending time with his children; he enjoyed his life, his |
28 |
| family, his friends, and he was a happy man; and
|
29 |
| WHEREAS, The passing of Erman E. "Wink" Schairer will be |
30 |
| deeply felt by many, especially his wife, Sandy; his two |
