| SENATE RESOLUTION
|

| WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois |
3 |
| learned with regret of the death of Lorenza Yancey on Sunday, |
4 |
| June 27, 2004; and
|
5 |
| WHEREAS, Lorenza Yancey was born March 2, 1925 in Fayette |
6 |
| County, Tennessee, to Will and Cassie Artison; she was one of |
7 |
| four children; on September 12, 1942 she was united in holy |
8 |
| matrimony to Thomas Yancey; he preceded her in death; and
|
9 |
| WHEREAS, Mrs. Yancey retired from Downey Hospital in 1986 |
10 |
| where she worked for 20 years; she was a faithful Christian, |
11 |
| devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, and |
12 |
| great-grandmother; and
|
13 |
| WHEREAS, The passing of Lorenza Yancey has been deeply felt |
14 |
| by many, especially her sons, Thomas (Ellen) Yancey Jr., Melvin |
15 |
| (Phyllis) Yancey, and Artis (Tamara) Yancey; her daughters, |
16 |
| Margree (Randolph) Danner, Velvin Faye (Alvin) Harper, and |
17 |
| Ardrene Yancey; her 18 grandchildren; her 31 |
18 |
| great-grandchildren; her brother, Herbert (Odessa) Artison; |
19 |
| and her many nieces, nephews, and loving friends; therefore, be |
20 |
| it

| RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-THIRD GENERAL |

| ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
23 |
| Lorenza Yancey, and we extend our sincerest condolences to her |
24 |
| family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it |
25 |
| further
|

| RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
27 |
| presented to the family of Lorenza Yancey as an expression of |
28 |
| our deepest sympathy.
