| SENATE RESOLUTION
|

| BE IT RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-THIRD GENERAL |

| ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that a Senate Teen Poverty |
4 |
| Task Force is created for the purpose of studying teen |
5 |
| parenting, school dropout, youth homelessness, and health |
6 |
| issues that are closely related to teen poverty; and be it |
7 |
| further
|
8 |
| RESOLVED, That the Senate Teen Poverty Task Force shall |
9 |
| consist of 4 members of the Senate appointed by the President |
10 |
| of the Senate and 4
members of the Senate appointed by the |
11 |
| Minority Leader of the Senate; the members shall be chosen to |
12 |
| ensure geographically diverse representation; the membership |
13 |
| shall include at least one Senator serving on each of the |
14 |
| following committees: the Senate Education Committee, the |
15 |
| Senate Health & Human Services Committee, the Senate |
16 |
| Appropriations I Committee, and the Senate Appropriations II |
17 |
| Committee; the President of the Senate and the Minority Leader |
18 |
| of the Senate shall each designate one appointee to serve as |
19 |
| co-chair; and be it further |
20 |
| RESOLVED, That the Senate Teen Poverty Task Force shall |
21 |
| hold at least 2 meetings at which public testimony shall be |
22 |
| heard; additional meetings may be scheduled and activities may |
23 |
| be added as necessary at the discretion of the co-chairs; the |
24 |
| Senate Teen Poverty Task Force may use outside experts to help |
25 |
| it staff the Task Force and
research the issues; the Senate |
26 |
| Teen Poverty Task Force may conduct joint meetings with the |
27 |
| House Teen Poverty Task Force; and be it further |
28 |
| RESOLVED, That the Senate Teen Poverty Task Force shall |
29 |
| submit a written report, including recommendations for steps to |
30 |
| address teen poverty in Illinois, to all members of the General |
31 |
| Assembly, the Governor's office, and relevant State agencies no |
32 |
| later than January 11, 2005.
