| SENATE RESOLUTION
|

| WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois |
3 |
| learned with sadness of the death of Gene L. Riley of |
4 |
| Bloomington on Thursday, June 3, 2004; and
|
5 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Riley was born in Springfield on October 4, |
6 |
| 1928 to Howard and Jinny Gibson Riley and he married Joan |
7 |
| Olzewski in Springfield on June 4, 1949; and
|
8 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Riley served Illinois Undersecretary of State |
9 |
| John Lewis as the director of the Illinois Secretary of State's |
10 |
| Police; he retired as a special agent captain in 1985 from the |
11 |
| Illinois State Police after serving 30 years; and
|
12 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Riley was of the Catholic faith; he was a |
13 |
| loving husband, father, and grandfather and will be deeply |
14 |
| missed by his family and friends; and
|
15 |
| WHEREAS, The passing of Gene L. Riley has been deeply felt |
16 |
| by many, especially his wife, Joan; his daughter, Janice (Dan) |
17 |
| Lipsey; his brother, Russell Riley; his sisters, Peggy Jordan, |
18 |
| Imogene Broccardo, and Mary Eva Myers; his grandsons, Ashley |
19 |
| Riley, and Sean Riley; and his great-granddaughters, Taylor |
20 |
| Riley and Bridget Riley; he was preceded in death by his |
21 |
| parents; a son, Garrett Riley; two brothers; and a sister; |
22 |
| therefore, be it

| RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-THIRD GENERAL |
24 |
| ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
25 |
| Gene L. Riley and extend our sincerest condolences to his |
26 |
| family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it |
27 |
| further

| RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |

| presented to the family of Gene L. Riley as an expression of |
